Question 6

5 May

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

The main problem i faced when producing my magazines, was the battling of the many wonders of photoshop. I had never used the software before so it took time to get to grips with the layers and editing that could be carried out. I also had to use technology when taking photographs for my magazine, i quite enjoyed taking the photos as it gave me a chance to be creative and plan out exactly what i wanted to do. I then used photoshop to edit these images, this was to create a sharper image and make it look more professional. This was done by cropping out unwanted parts of the image and then changing the brightness and contrast of the photo.

Question 3

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

Since researching ‘Top Of The Pops’ magazine i have come to the conclusion that the type of institution that i would hope to use to distribute my media product would be through supermarkets. This is because the target audience for this magazine is young teenagers, therefore it would be more than likely that it will be the parent’s buying the magazine for the children, rather than them getting it independantly from a newsagents for instance. As young teenagers are less likely to have an income as they aren’t old enough to work, the magazines may be bought as a ‘treat’. I would feel confident in the fact that parents would be happy to buy my magazine for their child, as i think it is appropriate for the age group.

It would be likely that the teenagers would join their parents when shopping and see the magazine and have the desire to persuade their parents to buy it for them, or simply hide it in the shopping trolley.

Magazine feedback

This is feedback from two other media students on my music magazine, when this was carried out i hadn’t yet completed my double page spread, so they were therefore unable to comment on it.

Double page spread photos

I wanted to make my photos look professional, so to do this i used a backdrop. I felt that this would look the photos look more sharp and defined. The look for my double page spread was based around the theme ‘nautical’ kind of 60′s, so to accomplish this i had to ensure that my model was dressed in the appropriate clothing and colours, this of course being red blue and white. As the magazine is aimed at teenagers, i didn’t want the poses to look too staged, so i therefore had her form a range of positions, to create a fun feel.
